Album Review: Beats Rhymes & Life – Tha Grand Entrance
Artist(s): Beats, Rhymes & Life
Album: Tha Grand Entrance
Genre: Hip-Hop & Conscious Hip-Hop
Year: 2009
As I heard some of these guys perform at our school last year at Oakland High, I ended up liking some of their music. Although it’s not the best hip-hop album, it’s a good album for upcoming young hip-hop artists to start out with. In my opinion I feel that most of these young artists truly have a talent for making music and look forward to seeing them having a successful career in the music industry. This album has a twist of positivity, real life struggle, and a hard-hitting mixture of true young East Oakland Emcee’s going hard with a mind state of representing yourself and staying on the right path. If these guys do stay on the right path then I for one believe they will definitely be on their way to success! The songs I would genuinely recommend are “Tha Grand Entrance”, “Gas Up the Track”, “East Oakland”, “Represent U”, and for the ladies”Around the World”. I look forward to listening to the next Beats, Rhymes & Life album because I would most likely encourage them to keep making music in the future and not resolve themselves into just rapping about stupid sh*t like some of these other rappers that are out now. And if you’ve read my previous article Why Mainstream Hip-Hop Is Dead, then you’d know what I’m talking about. But once again just to end this in a positive conclusion, I truely look forward to listening to the next Beats, Rhymes & Life Album and until then I encourage these young rappers to stay true to themselves and to keep doing what they do!
