Internet Censorship at Oakland High is a problem because students will always get around the blocked sites.  The websites that are being blocked include adult content, social networking, and some sites that don’t need to be blocked, but, because of the url of the site it is categorized as a site that should be blocked. They are blocked because its part of the school’s policy and teachers don’t want students to be distracted.

To me, it’s a waste of time because when I search through to do my assignments some sites get blocked. ~ Forrest Yates “The school doesn’t block sites that are inappropriate and it can make researching info much harder.” ~ Hassan Darrah “It seems boring in school because they block social networking sites and block adult content.”

I personally think that the school should prohibit social networking sites and any sexually oriented ads. They should atleast keylog the computers so that they know what they would be doing instead of blocking sites. They should have adults monitering the student’s computer. Del mar High School in San Jose for example doesn’t use any internet block because they realize that students will always get around them.
